ALL GREAT GOVERNMENTS HAVE AVOIDED INTIMATE THEATRE
after Hedda Gabler by Henrik Ibsen
THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE COMING CIVILISATION
after A Doll's House by Henrik Ibsen
Buenos Aires, Argentina
After engaging seriously and profoundly with Chekhov through his adaptation of Uncle Vanya (Espía a una mujer que se mata) and his version of The Three Sisters (Un hombre que se ahoga), Daniel Veronese brought the same group of actors together in order to conduct research into Henrik Ibsen's dramaturgy.
These two adaptations of plays from the Ibsen repertoire, A Doll's House and Hedda Gabler, can be presented separately, but they are set in the same scenographic space, and they are linked together by a multiplicity of signs in the way they have both been rewritten.
So much so that, when performed together, they come across as the two halves of one whole.
