10 years after the end of the play, Vanya, Elena and Astrov find themselves in a weird room, on the verge between dream and reality.

A room that's being prepared for a special celebration tonight.

Parallel to this room, a second space and time where the 3 protagonists of Chekhov's play remember / re-live / re-enact fragments of their past life.

Farewell scenes, late night confessions and outbursts of emotion, as written in the original play, mixed with texts of I. Bergman, M.Tsvetayeva, T.S.Eliot and texts written by the group during the rehearsals.

The story of 'Vanya' is a story of anticipation and finally, a story of confinement.

Human beings that wish to love and to be loved, who are trying to change their lives,

who, at the end, fail dramatically

and yet, decide to go on with their lives, hoping for a better future.

Vanya.10 years after describes the story of 3 people that are lost in the middle of their life's journey,

where the disappointments and the hardships of the past are mixed with the constant urge to live and to love,

with a certain disbelief towards the present

and with the hope that future generations might understand more.

2 men and 1 woman, the founding members of blitztheatregroup, as Chekhov's protagonists, as protagonists of their own life,

in between theatre and documentary,

fake and real, autobiography and novel,

wonder about desire, about how one is aging,

and about living one's life as a triumph,

10 years after the beginning of the group.

Vanya.10 years after is a farewell to the past

an attempt to narrate the passage of time

and a weird ceremony dedicated to the future of humanity.

I said to my soul, be still, and wait without hope

For hope would be hope for the wrong thing; wait without love

For love would be love of the wrong thing; there is yet faith

But the faith and the love and the hope are all in the waiting.

T.S. Eliot   « East Coker »
